No short cut keys for re-naming layer?

Apr 22, 2012 1:36 PM

I don't see a short cut key for re-naming a layer in Photoshop CS6.?I usually automatically do that when I create a new layer.

I was surprised there was not listing for a short cut under the "Layers" menu choice.

By default, there isn't one set, but you can certainly create your own by using the Keyboard Shortcuts option under the Edit menu.

You could also just double click on the layer name in the layers panel.

Shift ctrl N to create a new layer and name it at the same time. If you go to the layers panel and select new you can see the shortcut listed in the flyout menu.

Is that what you are looking for?

Or ALT+click the new layer icon in the layers panel, to get the new layer window, with so many useful entries.
