Is it possible to fade an effect?

Apr 29, 2012 11:37 AM

Hi all, new to the forum, so thanks for having me.  I'm relatively new to Premiere, but I have made a few videos that I really liked the outcome on.

What I would like to do is fade the effect on clips.  I'd like to present a clip without effect for the first part, and then fade into an effect.  Obviously, I need to transition into the effect, I can't have it go from normal in one frame to, say, black and white, in the next frame.

Is this possible?

Thank you for any help!

Dave

    Absolutely!

Easiest way is just to slice the clip on your timeline at the point you want the transition to occur, then add the effect to the first clip and apply a Dissolve transition between it and the second clip.

Another method is to have a clip on track 1 with the effect, and the same clip directly above on track 2 without the effect. Then keyframe the opacity of the clip on track 2.

Have you tried my method? It will do exactly that, Wooley.
