    Several ways.

Create a new master page based on the first, override the page number marker and delete it, then assign that master to pages that don't need a number.

On the document page, override the frame with the page number and delete it.

Or really bad, put a paper-filled frame in front of the number.

You set, surprisingly logical, the starting page to number 1.

Are you able to call up the Online Help? It should be in your menu bar, under "Help". If not, this URL points you to "Basic Tasks: Page Numbering": http://help.adobe.com/en_US/indesign/cs/using/WS144D32C3-94EF-46d6-9A3 E-03B260487A79.html
