Adobe Community: Remove LR develop via Exiftool

Why do you think tyou need to sue Exiftool? Lr reset clears the develop metadata. If it's been saved back to XMP you can overwrite it after reset or just trash the XMP sidecar.

It's 50,000 jpegs and tiffs that are not currently in LR but all have develop metadata copied from DNGs as a result of copying from Exiftool. I copied newly revised KW and captions from the DNGs to the tiffs and jpegs, and the develop metadata came with it. I'd rather not load all 50k in LR just to clear the metadata.

Try

exiftool -XMP-crs:all= foldername

I am not 100% sure. Test it on some copies of files before.

Try

To be frank, Ian's was a good answer. Messing around with Exiftools isn't something I'd recommend for those who need to ask questions like yours.

It was not a good answer. I asked a very specific question, for a good reason, because that is what I want to learn how to do. I'm well aware of the option of bringing them into Lightroom. I don't know why people feel compelled to second guess and patronize people in forums. If you don't have anything relevant to say about the question why waste everyone's time posting a response.

This is ridiculously patronizing and insulting. I'm amazed you felt fit to post that. This isn't YouTube. FYI I asked on the exiftool forum and no one there knew, including the software author, so keep your snide remarks to yourself.

If you want to kill the adjustment metadata, it was the best way to do the job - perhaps the fastest, probably the least effort and least likely to go wrong. But if you wish to treat it as a learning experience, that's a different matter.

Well, I read the thread on the exiftool forum, and as far as I can see, they told you how to do it. I've deleted LR Develop stuff from files that I inadvertantly copied it to along with other metadata that I did want copied.
