Having outer glow problem

When I create an outer glow on a shape I'm getting unwanted glow in other areas. Any suggestions?

    rizzledon,

     

    It looks rather strange, as if after fading the outer glow starts gathering strength again, visible at the corners of the Bounding Box of the glow effect.

     

    What happens if you close down Illy and  Move the folder (you may move it back to reset your preferences)?

    You have a conflict between the amount of glow and the Document  Raster Effects setting for Add around object as this

    See the glow effect off the page. Try adding more space around the object.

    Maybe mayb not there seems to be a bug of somekind look at these ssettings particularly att the one for 30 blur athen look at the others, notice that at 30 it appears and at 32 or 29 it is gone and it does not matter how much extra added space I give it 30 will produce the artifact.

    So try changing the setting of the blur to a different number like add or subtract a pt.

    It is a bug that occurs in some recent versions of Illustrator.

     

    I think it has been introduced in AI CS 2 or CS 3.

    Thanks guys, changing the blur did the job. I tried using a much larger document but it made no difference, my 'add around object' settings were set to 36px for the record..
