We are publishing one of our monthly issues in a few hours but have just seen the message:
'A mandatory Folio Builder Panel upgrade will be required on May 2nd. Installers will be posted at http://www.adobe.com/downloads/ when the update is required.'
Can we still publish as planned or do I have to install the new panel before hand?
Thanks
Liam
Sounds good, its our first retina app and we have jumped from V11 tools to V19 this issue so itss a big jump production wise.
We are going to wait until the morning (london time) to upload the issue anyway as we have some finishing touches to apply to the issues.
Ill make sure I update the tools beforehand.
Thanks for the help.
Liam
Liam - Please keep in mind that there are separate installers for the Folio Builder panel and the Folio Producer tools. When the update becomes available, you should update only the Folio Builder panel. You probably want to hold off on installing the Folio Producer tools until you have time to test everything.
Yes dont worry we have made that mistake before with somehting similar when we upgraded to V19 without waiting for the CNB to be approved by Apple. Not a problem for us as we can create our own Viewers but sharing files with advertisers became difficult.
I will only be updating the folio builder panel for now.
Thanks for the help
The creation of a folio file and having it show up in a branded app consists of several steps. Creation of a folio in the folio builder panel is what we call the upload or creation process. The act of putting the folio onto the distribution service for consumption by a mass audience is what we call "publishing" the folio.
Once a folio has been created using whatever version of the tools you want and a supported version of the folio builder panel, you can publish the content from the folio producer tools at any time. The version of the panel you use or updating the panel has nothing to do with the publish action which is the migration of content onto the distribution service.
