Can you commision work on a Student Edition?

Hi There,

 

I am recieving a student edition of CS5 through my Universities funding body and have heard that there are licensing issues when it comes to producing commissioned work

 

I was wondering if someone could put me in the direction of the information/explain on here, to help me understand what I can, and what I can't do with this license of the Creative Suite

 

Also a side question would be; if this is true - can I upgrade to CS6 standard edition from the student edition, so that the work I do, and the suite I use is completely my own?  or Do I have to buy it outright again..

    As long as you are eligible to purchase the license you may use it for commercial work.

     

     

     

    And yes, student versions carry upgrade right to commercial.

    thanks for the reply Bob but I'm still slightly unsure what you mean by "as long as you are eligible to buy the license" what type of license?

    The restrictions on Academic licenses are for purchase, not for use.

     

     

     

    If you are legally eligible to buy it, then you can use it for commercial purposes.

    so as I am a student studying in the UK

     

    as long as I am still a student running a student license I can use it for commercial purposes

     

    when the time comes when I am no longer a student, then I can no longer run the student license for commercial purposes?

    You can use it for commercial purposes for as long as you like, even after you graduate.

    Legally? I've read somewhere that only applies to customers in North America?

     

    has this legislation been changed recently?
