Updated flash player shows a single snapshot instead of streaming video on http://sochicamera.ru

Hi,

we run a website with live cameras around the city of Sochi. Live video goes fine untill the last flash player 11.2... (which is distributed via adobe.com by now) is installed. Once installed, it shows only a single snapshot instead of video (maybe its a keyframe), while the ip traffic goes on normal 1.5 mb/s.

On browsers with previous release 11.1 everything shows fine.

Could someone help this out? Thanks in advance.

    I've installed 11.3 beta, but it didn't fix the bug.

    Filing a bug is going to be the best method for us to track the issue and follow up with you.

    I'm wondering if you're running into a hardware acceleration issue.  We did lower the bar for GPUs with this release, and we may be using your GPU where we weren't previously.

     

    You can figure this out pretty quickly by right-clicking on the SWF and choosing Settings.  Click on the left-most tab, and uncheck Enable Hardware Acceleration.

     

    If the issue goes away, it's GPU related. 

        

         First, check to see if there are updated GPU drivers available for your machine.

     

         Once you're current, if you're still experiencing problems, we definitely want to know about them.

        

         Launch a Command Prompt window, and type the following (and then hit enter):

         dxdiag

     

         Follow the prompts, and hit Save All Information

     

         Please file a bug, and include the output of the DirectX Diagnostic Tool in your bug.

     

    If the issue persists, I'll see if I can help you troubleshoot it further.  Just reply to this thread.  I'll keep an eye on it.

    Jeromie, thanks for response. Yes, I've tried both with and without hw acceleration checked. I also have read similar issues in this forum, so I tried that simple stuff before any posting . By now the only cure was returning to 11.1.102.63, in Opera and Firefox the video from sochicamera.ru runs fine and smooth. But we still receive a lot of complaining from our visitors, for most of them are just users and downgrading a Flash Player happens to be a problem.

    I didn't find a way to send you a file, so here is my dxdiag output. I guess it might be important to know that we have about 20 different PCs in our office with one and the same problem detected: 11.1 OK and 11.2 failing. Yeah, the output:

    Thanks.  If it also fails with hardware acceleration disabled, it's not GPU related.

     

    I tested this with the following configurations, and was unable to reproduce the issue:

    PASS: Firefox 11.0 on WinXP SP3 (US_en) with Flash Player 11.2.202.233, 11.3.300.231 and 11.3.300.235 (today's development build)

    PASS: MSIE 9 on WinXP SP3 (US_en) with Flash Player 11.3.300.235

    PASS: Firefox 11.0 on Win7 with Flash Player 11.3.300.231 and 11.3.300.235 (with Protected Mode Enabled)

     

    Some of the cameras appear to be down.  I was using cameras 11 and 15 for the majority of my testing, as I could easly see traffic moving.

     

    Is there any additional information that might help me reproduce this issue?

    Jeromie,

    I made some videos regarding the problem. As we say, it's better to see once than to hear a dozen times. Sorry for my poor english, if you dont understand something, feel free to ask.

    In this one I reproduced the bug with freezing video. It may be important to state, that incoming traffic keeps coming while picture stands still. Maybe the bug is related with buffering somehow.

     

    This video shows that the issue is not browser-depending. It only depends on the version of FP. 11.1 ok,  11.2 fails.

    Some cameras sometimes show video in 11.2 also, but it is stumbling, unstable, and the quality is mush more poor.

    No, that didn't make sense. Same freezing and instability. Seems like the player is now much more strict to the videostream than before. Maybe.

    I've tested in IE and Opera.

    Hi Dimadoma,

     

    I am currently investigating your camera issue and so far I have been unable to reproduce it. In your post with your dxdiag information you mentioned that around 20 PC's in your office all were able to reproduce the freezing issue. Are the installed GPU's different in each machine? Also, are the machines running different operating systems? I am trying to narrow down the search a bit.

    Hi Dimadoma,

     

    That issue you linked definitely looks similar to the issue shown in your videos. The fix for 3160365 should be in the next 11.3 beta build. I will link to it here when it becomes available. Hopefully it fixes your issues. Until then i'll try to reproduce your issue on my side.

    Can you try the latest Flash Player 11.3 beta build located here http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer11-3.html. It is version number 11.3.300.250.

    No, its the same

    Even worse, because in 11.2 one could expand to fullscreen and then back to windowed mode and since that video started to run normally. In 11.3.300.250 this magic spell has no effect.
