Captivate project won't exit from playbar "X"

May 2, 2012 4:05 PM

I output my Captivate project as an .exe, it runs fine but it won't quit! I have to go kill it from Task Manager. All other controls on the playbar work fine.

Any ideas

    Hi there

That's an odd one for sure. Can't say I've ever seen that reported. Exit not working when viewing in the browser is one thing and it's quite common for that to fail. But I've never seen someone report that the button fails from an EXE.

Does the same thing happen if you create a fresh project with only a slide or two? If so, we are maybe looking at an issue with the way the EXE is working with your operating system. But if a new project works fine, then it's something project specific.

    Cheers... Rick

You may have some components in there that are corrupted.

Try removing any preloaders, skins, widgets etc, and then see if it will publish and behave properly.  If so, then replace them again with new ones, making sure these ones are compatible with your current version of Cp.

I would always consider a widget from Captivate 4 as suspect because some of them were AS2 code, and even the AS3 ones weren't all that great.

Remove the widget and test.  If that resolves the issue, replace the widget with one that shipped with your current version of Captivate to see if that reintroduces the issue again.  If it does, get rid of the widget altogether.

My previous advice about replacing skins still also applies. Upgrading from earlier versions accounts for many issues on these forums.
