Hi~
I'm having no luck with loading files into ADE. I download the book's .acsm file, and double-click on it. ADE opens, but nothing gets loaded. There are no error messages.
Is there something I'm missing?

Yes, in a word. But I'm not sure how you're doing it, so let me restate it
here. No offense intended, but people sometimes overlook something.
The methodology that 'should' work is to open ADE, then go to the site
where the ebook is located and go through its download process. As that
process unfolds, the site will post the .ascm file (which contains only
some information about the ebook) and then activate ADE to finish the
process.
Do NOT use a utility program to download an ebook - it doesn't work that
way.
Try it and see what happens.

No offense taken. I didn't give the whole story...
I did go to the site, clicked on the download button for the epub, ADE launches but the book doesn't load into it. I've also tried it with ADE already open.
Grrrr.

OK. Now for a few other questions.
Did you register with Adobe and obtain an Adobe ID and password before you
downloaded and installed ADE?
Have you downloaded any ebooks successfully from this site or other sites?
What operating system are you using? Windows 7 security settings may block
downloads under certain conditions.

Hi. Yes, I registered with Adobe, got an ID and password. Installed ADE and authorized to the same ID.
I'm using a mac.
I just successfully downloaded a sample book from the ADE library. But a purchased ebook still won't load.

What version of OS is on your MAC? Lion has some incompatibilities.

I've been considering unauthorizing everything and putting it on a different (Windows) laptop. If I did that, after unauthorizing ADE, do I just move it to trash? Not sure how to remove an app from a mac.

Check out the comments by 'Alex_Olsen' concerning the way this version of
the software is functioning.
You should be able to get a fresh install downloaded for Windows from the
Adobe website if that's the way you want to proceed.

Thanks. I'd prefer to keep it on the mac, but we'll see what Mr. Olsen has to say.
