I have just downloaded Photoshop CS 5 but it will not launch—the icon has a circle with a diagonal slash through it (and the prompt says the app may be damaged or incomplete). I have tried the Trial Download process several times but keep getting the previous situation. Please help.
Is this an Icon you are trying to launch from the dock? Or is this what you see when you go to the Adobe Photoshop CS5 folder inside your Applications folder? Which version of Mac OS are you using btw?
Have you tried removing the software by using the uninstaller located in Applications/Utilties/Adobe Installers and then trying the installation again? Do you receive any error messages while trying to install Photoshop?
Yes, I have tried using the uninstaller and tried the installation again. When double-clicking on the Photoshop icon (which is grayed-out with a circle with a diagonal slash through it) I receive the error message "the file is damaged or incomplete". And each time I try to install a new version of the trial, I trash the old Photoshop folder. I am currently trying a download via Firefox—my past efforts have been with Safari.
If you are still having installation problems please try removing the software using the Uninstaller in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers. After that is complete I would also recommend running our CS5 Cleaner tool. You can find directions on it's use at CS5 Cleaner Tool for installation problems | CS5.5, CS5, CS4, CS3 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation -problems.html. Please feel free to respond to this thread if you have any questions regarding the steps listed in the document.
Also I would be curious to know if running the cleaner tool allowed you to resolve your difficulties. It will also be useful if you could respond back so other users experiencing the same difficulty would know the results.
The Uninstaller did the trick (in the past attempts I kept trashing the
software folders alone)—I didn't get to the point of trying the Cleaner
tool. Thanks so much for your expert help!
