I have an image that has a washed out sky, almost white in color. I wanted to change the sky but do not have another copy of the image at a different time of day to be able to blend in a different look. There is also a tree in one corner of the image that covers part of the sky making it more difficult to drop the sky out and add a new one. Does anyone have a good suggestion on how to change the look of the sky either by replacing or adding to the existing one? Thank you.
Hi GulfCoast,
Its hard to know the best approach without seeing the actual image but my inclination would be something like this
1. Create a new empty layer on top of the stack for the sky
2. Create a selection of the sky area, possibly a just a long rectangle using the rectangular marquee
3. Add a gradient in the layer within the selection, have the gradient vertical and light at the bottom
4. Change the Blend Mode of the sky layer to Multiply
