Photoshop Elements 10 overwrites EXIF-Information

Hello,

I installed PE10 new after deinstalling PE8.

After opening PE10 the first time, my catalog was converted to the new format.

I addes some pictures and PE10 changed the date/time-info of the file in my folder and it overwrites the exif-Information (date of photo and so on).

How can I tell PE10, that in case of importing pictures it has to read exif information and use it in the organizer ?

I like to let the date/time-info of the file to the date of taking the picture. Also the exif information has to stay in original form.

Any ideas ?

At the moment I don't like the programm - if it is the normal behavior, i through money out of the window and have to delete the programm ! I can't use it if it changed this informations.

Only my camera has to write the exif information.

Thx for any help.

Best regards,

Axel

    Hey,

This is the default behavior of PSE (or i guess for all other similar apps). This is logical also. Let me try to explain you-

Organizer shows five date time fields, which are-

Date original- It tells when the photos was shot.

Date digitized- It tells when the photo was digitized. As today's camera are all digital so this field is same as date original.

date time - It is the time when you modify your EXIF info.

Date created - Time when photo is created on your HDD.

Date modified - Time when your photo gets modified.

The organizer grid shows the date in same order that is: Date original->Date digitized->Date time->date created->date modified. When you use 'adjust date time functionality' Organizer changes the date which is shown in grid which in most cases is Date original.

Now in order to retain the shot date, I guess Date digitized field is introduced. So 'Date digitized' is actually shot date and Organizer will never change that.
