Clips stop playing randomly

In any player in Premiere Pro as soon as I start playing anything, it stops playing after a couple of frames (sometimes 2, sometimes 40). The footage is batched from a tape in Mini DVC (sorry for all mistakes I make here, I'm pretty new to formats and codices). I am on a Mac in school that runs both CS4 and Final Cut which works, I prefer PPro though. Does anyone have any idea what I could've done wrong?

Ok, I can't find this file. Is it maybe because the article is for CS5 and up? I use CS4.
