Adobe Air installer is not opening on Mac

May 4, 2012 4:46 PM

Hi, I have downloaded the last version of Adobe Air but the installer is not opening. I have followed the steps written on this page : http://helpx.adobe.com/air/kb/troubleshoot-air-installation-mac-os.htm l , but after step 4 'after hitting enter you will be prompted for your login password" , the installation does not begin but instead here is what gets written:

"This application requires a version of Adobe AIR which cannot be found.

Please download the latest version of the runtime from

http://www.adobe.com/go/getair,

or contact the application author for an updated version."

I hope you can help.

Thank you.

Sam

Thank you for the log.  It appears something is cauing AIR to crash.  Could you grab this log and post the contents?

    /Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/Adobe AIR Installer_2012-05-05-023513_localhost.crash

    Thanks,

    Chris

You should be able to open it with TextEdit.  You can also send it to me directly at ccampbel@adobe.com

    Hopefully this helps.

    1. Open the finder menu Go->Go to Folder...

    2. Type "/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/" and hit Go

    3. Locate the file named "Adobe AIR Installer_2012-05-05-023513_localhost.crash"

    4. Right click the file and select Open With->TextEdit

    5. Copy the entire contents and paste into your reply

Thanks Sam.  That's what I was looking for.  I've forwarded the crash log along to one of our Mac developers to see what they have to say, however I took a look and I suspect it's pretty generic (we appear to be crashing when we close down garbage collection.)  I haven't seen this crash occur before, so I believe it's something specific with your system.

Could you try installing the AIR 3.3 beta release, or go back to an earlier version of AIR to see if any of those can install?
