Issue with flash player

Apr 10, 2012 1:05 PM

I tried to update my flash player and install Google Chrome and although it says it installed, I am now having all kinds of issues.  I can no longer see what is in dialog boxes (like the one on the Adobe page that says which version you have on your computer) watch videos, or play games on Facebook.  I have followed the troubleshooting instructions and I still can't figure out what's wrong.  I even uninstalled and reinstalled it.  What do I do now?

Google Chrome ships with its own version of Flash Player, so no additional install is needed.  Can you do an "about:plugins" in your Chrome address bar and verify that Flash Player is not disabled?

What browser are you using?  Do you have Flash Player installed?  Assuming you're using Safari, please go to Safari preferences, select the Security tab and make sure that "Enable plug-ins" is checked.

To the best of what I can tell (and my Mac is new), I have Flash in Google Chrome as well as in the lower toolbar.  Yes, plug-ins is enabled as you suggested.  I am certain I am missing some small part of this puzzle.  ANy other advice?  Joan

    Hi Joan,

So, you're using Google Chrome correct?  If you go to this page, what version of Flash is reported as being installed?

    http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player.html

when you state "I have flash player on my Mac Pro but cannot get plug-ins.", can you elaborate on what that means?

    Thanks,

    Chris

Absolutely, no part of that performs.  What have I done wrong?

And, on second thought, have I even downloaded Google Chrome?  I am unsure of anything.  Joan

Ok, you can download Chrome from here: https://www.google.com/chrome

If you'd like to install Flash Player for Safari or Firefox, you can get it here:  http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer

I am doing something wrong.  I have installed Flash Player about 26 times.  I have Chrome and Firefox as well.  So why can't I get the plug-ins?  My list of installed stuff does not include any of these programs.  Joan

I think my problem may be with the installation.  I download these things, but maybe I am not correctly install ing them?  I am at a true loss--first time in my computer life.  Joan

    Hi Joan,

Can you describe what you do after downloading the .dmg files?  You should be able to double click the .dmg, then a new icon will appear on your desktop.  Double click that and a window will appear with the Flash Player installer.  Double click that and the Flash Player installer should start and step you through the process.

    Chris
