Error 2 upon opening Dreamweaver CS5 - is OS X Lion to blame?

I'm a licensed user of the CS5 Web Premium platform for the Macintosh computer.

I recently upgraded to Lion (OS 10.7.x), and since then I've been unable to open Dreamweaver without having the following screen pop up:

 

Error: unable to open .../.../Dreamweaver/Extensions/xxx.js (error 2)

 

Trying to get live view to work isn't possible either.  Any solutions or workarounds?

    Try steps 12 & 4 and then go through the rest if necessary:

    I've gone to your link, and read the information.  Unfortunately, my OS system doesn't have the extensions, or the pathway to the files that need to be checked out.

    Any other ideas?  This is a licensed educational version of CS5 design premium for the Mac OS.

    The info in that link gives info for both Mac OSX and Windows.

     

    Forum regulars often provide that link to both Mac and Windows users who are encountering Javascript errors in Dreamweaver (as you are).

    Max OSX paths

     

    On Mac OS

      •   Quit Dreamweaver

    #
    In the Mac Finder, browse to the following folder:
    /Users/[username]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver CS4 [or CS5]/[language]/Configuration

     

    Step 4

     

    Dreamweaver CS5: /Users/Your User Name/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver CS5/[language]/Configuration

    Huh?  What do you mean your system does not have the extensions?  I guess you are really new to the Lion party.  The library folder is now a hidden folder.  From the Finder you can Go To Folder (shift+cmd+g) and type: "~/Library" or open up the terminal and follow these instructions to unhide it permanently: http://osxdaily.com/2011/07/04/show-library-directory-in-mac-os-x-lion / .

    Thank you so much for your help.  I re-installed the WebAssist extensions, and then removed the configuration folders, and the system re-installed the configuration folder and everything is back to normal for the moment.
