Reader keeps installing the Internet Plugin and I can't make it stop!

May 5, 2012 10:31 AM

I don't want my browser (Safari) to open PDFs with Reader. But every time Reader is updated it installs the AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin and provides no way to disable it so I have to navigate to my plugins folder and disable it.Display PDF.jpg

As you can see, the checkmark enabliing the Reader is disabled and there is no way -- short of removing the plugin -- to turn it off.

Has anyone found a better way to deal with this?

The easier way to achieve this is to uncheck 'Display PDF in browser' in the Reader Preferences.  I think this selection will stay even when you update the Reader version.
