Large pdf on an ipad

May 4, 2012 9:44 AM

I have a large file (77 mb) that I'm trying to get to the ipad.  I've sync'd it using itunes but it opens it in ibook, with no choice of opening it in adobe.  I've tried doing an portfolio and a single pdf.

I originally created a portfolio, but when I open it in ibooks, it tells me that I should get adobe reader for Ipad.  I've got it!  Can't get it over there.

I put it in my drobox and was able to open it in Goodreader, and with Goodreader, I was able to choose the open in adobe reader.   All of my "portfolio" stuff is gone, it's just one bit pdf.  No bookmarks, or other things.

I created it as single PDF with bookmarks, and set the properties to open with bookmarks.  With the Ibooks and the adobe PDF, I don't seem to be able to see the bookmarks.  With Goodreader, I was able to find the bookmarks.

This is a PDF/portfolio that we're going giving to a number of people with different technical skills.   How do I get them the best experience?

Help!

Can you please share the pdf(s) with us at adobereader-ios@adobe.com along with your description of the problem? I'd like to be able to better understand the bookmarks issue.

As for opening, you should be able to open the PDF directly from dropbox. Note that the "open in" dialog in dropbox is scrollable and that you may have to swipe the list to see the Adobe Reader. You should also be able to sync using itunes by using the method described in this thread:

    Thanks!

It's possible that a single page would help. Perhaps you can send that?

    Thanks!

    Hi Lexi76013,

It looks like the attachment didn't come through. Can you please send it to adobereader-ios@adobe.com with a reference to this forum post?

    Thank you!

Hi. Not sure if you've found a solution yet, but if you have a Google account, you can upload the PDF file to Google docs then download it on the iPad from there. You should have the option of opening with Adobe when you do so.
