Hello there. I am new to using Flash. I am folllowing a tutorial on animating using motion guides. Everything was going well until I was asked to go to the property inspector and tick the orient to path, sync and snap boxes. Well I have hit Ctrl+F3 and this brings up the properties panel but alas. there are no orient to path, sync and snap boxes. I have attached a screen shot. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong ?
Do you know if the tutorial is written using an older version of Flash? I am unable to find what you say you are looking for, though I remember it being where they say to look in older versions.
If you want to have the object follow the motion path, first add a keframe at the end in the star layer and place that instance of the star near the end of the path. Move the first frame of the star near the start of the path. Then right click star in the first frame and choose Create Classic Tween. If it works, it will glue the star to the path and you you have the animation.
Ned, thanks for trying but this doesn't answer my question. Maybe it's my fault for being ambiguous.
Firstly, re the Flash version, you were right: this tut was written for CS3. Secondly, I have 'attached the star to the path as you suggest. That's not the problem. If you look at my screenshot you will see the star pointing in the direction of the down slope of the path/guide. The trouble is, when it reaches the levelling out portion of the path, it doesn't stay in the orientation of the path. Hence looking for the 'orient to path'. I am attaching 2 pics: the first is what happens at the moment; the second is what I'd like to happen. This is where the 'orient to path' comes in.
