Hello. I purchased CS5 24 April of this year. There was information that I could get a free upgrade to CS6. How do I upgrade?

I assume you bought CS5.5. Did you buy directly from Adobe?

In their FAQ Adobe stated they would contact buyer within 10 days of CS6 shipping.

Wait 10 days before contacting them. In the meantime you can download the trial of the product you’re entitled to and use that until you get that email.

Thanks for the info. This is exactly what I was looking for. I just bought CS5.5 last month.

Just waiting is not enough. You have to claim your free upgrade.

    Go to http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/upgrade-policy-produ ct-announcement.html.

Follow the instructions and sign in with your Adobe ID. If you don’t have an account with Adobe, you’ll be prompted to create one. You’ll then complete an online form, requiring you to provide your Creative Suite 5.5 serial number and a scanned copy of your receipt.

YMM - I purchased my upgrade to 5.5 via Adobe Volume Licensing.

Interesting. Probably because you bought from Adobe directly while I bought from an authorized reseller. I had to claim the update, and now I'm waiting for an answer from Adobe.

I have just spoken to Adobe and they are about a week behind because of demand. I'm expecting a complimentry upgrade (CS6 Design standard) code next week.

Same here -- 10 days and no email. Left a query on their customer service portal yesterday: so far no response. Why can't they simply email serial numbers instead of demanding that we jump through hoops? This is *not* a free upgrade -- it's an upgrade we paid for, not something to be granted at Adobe's convenience. And this from a company that wants to transition towards "Software as a Service" . I will certainly avoid Adobe's cloud offerings like the plague, given their tentative grasp of the concept, "service".

Let them be behind. Just download the appropriate CS6 version for you and install it as trial. Add the serial number whenever you get it.

That's how I did it. I bought CS5.5 not directly from Adobe and therefore had to claim my free update (see my posting from before). In the meantime I got the serial number for CS6 (in an email from Adobe) and my CS6 is now serialized and activated.

PS: A good idea is to download the software not with the Adobe Downloader which is nothing but a piece of crap but through their direct download links. These links and how to use them is explained here: http://prodesigntools.com/adobe-cs6-direct-download-links.html.

I tried contacting Adobe today. The phoneline referred me to adobe.com/go/pa. When I tried Live Chat, the agent seemed to be copying and pasting from that webpage! Everyone who purchased the CS5.5 suite/upgrade during the specified time frame ought to have received, with the initial receipt, information about getting the promised upgrade (it was not even mentioned in the correspondence I got from Adobe). Then we should have got an alert when CS6 was released, with notifications of any delays. Most people are reasonable about delays -- so long as they're kept informed. Basic business practice. It is worth noting that among the "solutions" offered by Adobe on the home page are (a) digital marketing and (b) web experience management. Risible!
