I have the Cineform codec installed on my computer, but it is not being offered as a transcode option in Prelude. Is there anything I can do to allow me to transcode my files in Prelude to Cineform AVI?
Prelude will transcode to just about anything, but it only allows you to use encoding presets to do this, and you can't create encoding presets in Prelude. However, you can build them in Pr or AME, and they will be automatically available in Prelude.
Simply open a test clip in Pr or AME, and build an AVI preset using Cineform. Save the preset, and then launch Prelude; the preset should be available in the list of presets after you select AVI as the Format.
Okay, I think I found a workaround. I created a new preset using Adobe Media Encoder, and instead of choosing "Cineform AVI" as my base codec, I chose "AVI" instead. Under the video tab, I changed the video codec to "GoPro-Cineform Codec (x64) v7.4.0", and changed the rest of the settings to what I would normally encode to (1920x1080, 23.976, progressive, square pixels), then named the preset "AVI Cineform 24p".
When I went back to Prelude, it appeared under the AVI presets. I didn't have to restart the program.
While this does work, it's far from intuitive. I'd much rather just be able to choose my codec from Prelude's transcode menu.
