slow scrubbing along timeline with .mov footage. CS5.5

Apr 23, 2012 9:52 PM

Hi. I've received some footage from another company. They're .mov files and it's really frustrating to work with. It doesn't have a smooth playback or even when I scrub along the timeline, it's very jumpy.

Here is the meta data for the clip...

Turn off Maximum Bit Depth and try to rename .MOV to .MTS. Maybe that will work and bypass the QuiRcktime Server with its 32 bits nature. It looks like standard AVCHD material, so maybe renaming the extensions will help. Maximum Bit Depth only complicates matters.

Also, be sure to apply the most recent updates, which has some performance fixes:

Twixtor is similar to Timewarp in AE and is used for slomos. For transcoding to a format that is easier to edit and puts less strain on the system, look at Cineform.

Yeah. I think you want to have a look at Neoscene.

Thanks for reporting that. I've never used Cineform myself, so this is nice to know.
