Today, I installed LR4.
Unfortuantely, I found no local content available (yet) for LR4 in the Adobe Community Help application.
This can also be seen in Adobe Community Help Preferences > Local Content where I find "Using Lightroom 4" as "Not Available".
Is my installation corrupt, or will the content become availble as local content soon?
Cheers.
Thanks for sharing your posts.
Apparently, Adobe decided to change the function of the Help application. In CS6 this is called the Help Manager. See this post for their new design philosophy: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1000134
My best guess is that Adobe did the same for Lightroom 4, hence the local help is not available as html, and not yet as pdf: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1000134

I do regret that there is no backwards compatibility for the help function for those who stick with CS5.5. This way, it is utterly confusing and not useful.

Dave
Hi - the Help Manager is not included in LR4, however you can download it separately here: http://www.adobe.com/support/chc
Follow the steps on the page to install the utility and be sure to select Lightroom in the product pull-down menu. Once that's done, the next time you press F1 or invoke help from the application menu, the Help Manager will launch and notif you that the local content is available for download. Once the PDF has been downloaded, you can select "Display local content only" in the General settings of the Help Manager preferences and the PDF will open whenever you select Help, whether you are online or offline.
Mark,
I tried this and I still am not getting the offline help. I'm using a new macbook pro with OS X. I'm totally new to Lightroom so really need the help within the program and offline. I don't know why it doesn't load that way. Can you help with how I can get the offline help. I did download the pdf and have it in a seperate file, but would prefer to have it show up within the program when I open help or hit f1. Thanks for any help you can give me.
Yes, the online help loads, but I would like to get help to load when I'm offline, thanks for quick response. As I said, I did download the pdf, but I have to go to finder and out of lightroom to look at the help. Is there a reason help isn't included with the program when you buy it? It would be so much easier if it was included, and then you go online for additional help. Thanks again.
Okay - that's a good sign. Make sure the PDF is placed in the following directory:
Also, make sure that you have the Help Manager preference set to Display Local Content only. To do so,
That should enable you to open the PDF instead of the online help whenever you select Help.
