I cannot get shockwave to work. It says it has succeesfully downloaded but it not anywhere on my system. not in my Apps.

From where did you download it?
Shockwave player and downloaded from Adobe.com
And the Welcome page - http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/welcome/ - what do you see when you direct your browser to it?
