I am having problems playing back a project with more then 3 HD video-layers (PIP and MultiCam).
After one second playback of video stops and I can only hear audio.
The same projecet in CS5.5 can be played with 8 !!!! active HD video layers without problems ...
Must have something to do with disk IO - I can play 9 HD streams with multicam if I use the same video on all 9 layers (each with a few frames offset)
I920,18GB RAM,GTX 680,9TB Raid5

Try the PPBM5 Benchmark and submit your results. That may show if there is something wrong with your setup.
You can read here:
Adobe Forums: Taking CS6 Out For A Spin
to see if any of that info helps.
And I know its a painfully obvious question, but is hardware MPE enabled for the project when it's open in CS6?
Jeff
Hi Jeff,
I allready deleted the cache and db files - even shift&alt startup didn´t change anything.
yes - MPE is enabled for the new CS6 project ;-)
In CS6 I can playback 9 HD streams with 3way-cc in multicam mode - as long as its the same clip 9 times - each with a few frames offset
as soon as I change the offset for each video to 30sec, playback gets choppy after 1 or 2 seconds and after 2-4 seconds it only shows 1 frame every 1 or 2 seconds (or stopps)
... tested with canon-hdv, canon-dslr and gopro2 material - no difference
Right now I cant even play 2 video streams in CS6 while CS5.5 still works with all 8 layers ....

Then it seems to be down to something that's changed between 5.5 and 6 -- either on your system (possibly fixable) or something hard-wired into Pr (probably not fixable). Some more things to check:
If none of that works or provides a clue, then I'm stumped.
Jeff
I seem to be havng the same problem on three different computers I've tried. It's driving me crazy. Having already paid for the CS6 upgrade I'm getting ready to step back down to 5.5 !!!!
None of my multicam sequences are playing properly. Other symptoms are that the video thumbnails are not appearing on all the clips and when you go to the source sequence and double click on the file it says media pending even though it all shows online in the project window.
This is a major major shop stopper for me. I'm seeing this with only 3 cameras / 3 layers too.
Yes all three use HDD, but I'm running 3x2TB as a RAID 0 and it works flawlesly in CS5.5.
CS6.0 is BROKEN. There are other problems that is prventing me using it. It's taking around 5 minutes to make a single AVCHD clip renderable. It just sits there with 0 frames rendered for about 5 mins then suddenly takes off and renders like normal. CS5.5 does not have that pause.
tried it with HDV mpeg2, QT h264 (canon 7D) and MP4 h264 (gopro 1&2)
HDV > 4GB
QT&MP4 < 4GB

EDIT !!!!
If I only use mpeg2 I can play 9 HD streams !!!!
thought I had tested this ![]()
thnx for the hint
