Adobe Content Viewer asking for upgrade...

The Adobe content viewer (that I downloaded about an hour ago) is not working. It says "Please update your app." but no update is available?!? Not sure what is up. Any ideas?

    You can't produce folios in InDesign 6 and view in the Content Viewer until Apple approves the Content Viewer update. Until then, continue to use InDesign 5 or 5.5.

    Thanks for the answer! Anyone know a good guess on when that update might be? I just bought 6, and don't have 5.5. I also cannot find a place to download a 5.5 demo now that 6 is out.

    The update thread says that Apple has said they need more time to review the app, so we can only hope that it will be approved soon.

    I also received this message after updating the Folio Producer tools to 1.10.1 (CS 5.0).

     

    I've since uninstalled the latest version of the Folio Producer tools and reinstalled 1.9.1 but the folio I was working on is rendered useless (at least, from an iPad previewing perspective) until Content Viewer is updated.

     

    Will now wait until the Content Viewer update is available via Apple and reproduce the folio using the 1.9.1 tools.

    Anyone experience this problem with InDesign CS5 or CS5.5?

    I've a client that uses cs5 and when trying to download that issue, the Adobe Content Viewer displays the "Please update your app".

    It's not an InDesign issue...it's a DPS Tools issue. Version 20 tools should not be used until the new viewer is available for download from Apple.

     

    You'll either need to roll back to version 19 or wait.

    Hi Bob,

     

    Can I ask (and please excuse me if this is a silly or obvious question) - in what situation would you go ahead and download the v20 tools prior to to the new viewer being available for download from Apple?

    That's not a silly or obvious question (unless you've been using DPS for a long time). The answer is that Pro and Enterprise customers can download the v20 tools when they become available and begin taking advantage of the new features right away. For example, with the v20 release, publishers can create iPhone apps, which are already starting to be approved. Pro and Enterprise customers can use the Viewer Builder to create a custom version of the Adobe Content Viewer that they can use to test their v20 folios.

     

    As I've mentioned, there is a "Publish As" feature currently in the works that eventually will let everyone publish to an earlier format (no earlier than v20). This should help mitigate the problems associated with the tools being released before Apple approves the viewer.
