Folio Builder Panel - Update to R20

May 7, 2012 4:28 PM

Last week's R20 release had some problems, so we make some updates to the panel and released it a few minutes ago. Please look for the 5/7/12 release for the updated panel.

Here's a brief description of the problems that were resolved:

  1. "Hide from TOC" setting is not supported in sidecar.xml
  2. Opening InDesign files from the Folio Builder Panel doesn't work
  3. Existing articles in the Folio Builder Panel need to be relinked after update to R20

Thanks!

Instead of downloading the plug-ins for CS6, I think that now we can simply go to Help > Updates, right ?

After the automatic update, I see Version

    12.2.2.20120427_m_686742

    8.0.6.20

Is that the latest version ?

This bug fix update is available for download but not via help>updates. It takes the panel to 12.2.2.20120504_m_687480

Right. Choosing Help > Updates works only for the DPS tools in InDesign CS6.

...another silent update via manual download? So nobody will ever notice?

hm, I think I will have to make a super clear notice on my websites... even

my CS6 update is telling me that there is nothing new to update.

Because of the back-end systems it can take several days for our updates to appear under Help > Updates. If you absolutely positively need the latest bits for a hotfix and you are on CS6 you will have to visit the Adobe.com download page to get it. Eventually it will make its way to Help > Updates.

@Neil – Is there a "official" list of bug fixes for the 12.2.2.1 version of the Folio Builder panel software?

Here's the list of bug fixes. The post-v20 fixes are all grouped together.

@Bob Bringhurst – very helpful. Thank you.

An additional question: I'd like to test the new features with InDesign CS6 (Alternate Layouts, Liquid Layout) on the same machine with my InDesign CS5.5 installation (Folio Builder 1.2.2.1 together with the v19 tools of Overlay Creator).

Should I proceed installing all the v20 tools with InDesign CS6?

Could there be some side effects for my CS5.5 installation? I have no Pro oder Enterprise subscription for the DPS. In my case, would you recommend waiting for Apple approving the free Adobe Content Viewer?

The version 20 DPS tools in CS6 will not interfere with the version 19 tools in the earlier versions of InDesign.

Ah! Bob Levine! Thanks. Good to know!
So I will continue with testing CS6 and DPS v20.
