product wont install/run

i put the disc into my computer and there is no auto run software activating and i cannot use any of the icons on the disc because i dont have the software to run them? which is weird because im sure i have alot of programs to read files. i have adobe photoshop elements cs5 teacher and student edition. i have recieved a serial number in an email and it is registered. i have even tried downloading cs5 free trial and putting my code into it to say ive purchased and it it still wont recognise my serial number. if i cannot resolve this, it may be the last time i buy with adobe, installations are meant to be simple and i consider myself to be pretty capable around computers.

I think that you might be using a Mac OS disc on Windows (or vice versa). Somewhere on the disc must be a label that tells you what platform the disc is for.

We need more info. as vikrant said, first verify that you have the right download/ disc for the right platform and then we maay actualyl need to know what computer you are trying to use to advise fuerther. Just saying that something doesn't work is always the most unproductive way of soliciting help.
