Hyperlinks not retained when created using formulas in Excel 2007

I have an Excel spreadsheet with hyperlinks created using the =HYPERLINK( Link Location, Name) formula, or a very similar formula. I've tried a couple of different ones with the same result.

The hyperlinks work while in the Excel file. However, when the document is converted to PDF, the links are no longer active, but the cell does still contain the "friendly name." I imagine the problem is because Acrobat does not deal with the "hidden" behind-the-scenes-text, like a formula, and only deals with the text in the cell.

Is there a work-around for this so I can create my PDF report directly from my Excel file?

So far, the only work-around I have found is to copy/paste the needed cells into a Word document and PDF from there. While that works, it's not optimal. This is a document that is updated on a continual bases.

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Excel forumula don't carry through into PDF.

They have no meaning to PDF (see ISO 32000-1).

    Be well...
