Acrobat Pro X crashing problem 10.1.3

Apr 27, 2012 10:48 AM

Acrobat Pro X would be a great program if it didn't crash all the time.    I am building forms with several text fields and check boxes.    The forms have quite a bit of javascript to turn layers on and off.

Acrobat crashes or locks up several times an hour.    I have to continually save so that I don't lose my work.      I haven't found any pattern to the problem.    It seems to happen randomly.

Sure wish Adobe would make this program more stable.

    Windows:

1: Update the product, repair the product from the control panel.

2: Move the cache.db file from the location C>Program files or Program files(x86)>Common files>Adobe>Adobe PCD>Cache and mvoe the cache.db file on to your desktop.

3: Close and reopen the applciation, you will get a prompt to enter the serial key, enter it and check if Acrobat is still crasing or not.

4: If the isue still persists then you need to check for the error message in the event viewer ie Start> and type Eventviewer and check the error message under Windows Logs>Applcition>erro which indicated Acrobat.

5: Rename the OOBE folder from the location C>Program files or Program files(x86)>Common files>Adobe>OOBE to OOBE.old and download and install the Adobe applciation manager from the Adobe website and it will work.

Post on this if you are still facing the same issue.

(Apple made the user library folder hidden by default with the 10.7 release you can access the hidden or the root library by  navigating Finder, choose Go > Go To Folder

In the Go To Folder dialog, type ~/Library and click Go.

Download the updater plug in frameworkfix.dmg from the location http://www.adobe.com/support/acrobat/ts/documents/333592/UpdaterPlugIn WithFrameworkFix.dmg

Locate Adobe Acrobat 10.0 Professional in your Applications folder.

Right-click or control-click on the application and choose "Show Package Contents" from the context menu.

Open the "Contents" folder then open the "Plug-ins" folder.

Double-click the UpdaterPlugInWithFrameworkFix.dmg file which will mount a volume named Updater Plug-in With 317 Framework.

Copy new Updater.acroplugin folder from the mounted volume to the Plug-ins folder.A message may pop up stating "A newer item named "Updater.acroplugin" already exists in this location. Do you want to replace it with the older one you are moving?" Click Replace to complete the installation. (you will not get the prompt if the plug in itself is not present)

Close the window "Plug-ins" Window and restart Acrobat. Hope this works.
