Font size problem on Elements 10

When I try to add text to a particular picture the font size appears huge  taking up half the screen.

Changing the font size only helps slightly even when I click the font down to 6. How do I correct this?

    When the Text tool is selected, click the little arrow at the left of the Options Bar, and select "Reset Tool".

    Hi Ken,

    I tried it, but it did not make a difference. The font size is still huge and takes up half of the screen.

    Other ideas would be very welcome.

    Is this happening to only that one picture?  What are the image dimensions and pixels/inch?

    Hi Ken,

    It's happening on a series of pictures that I had converted from slides to jpgs.

    I reduced the pixels to 1200 X 811 at 2.78 MB.

    It doesn't happen on other newer pictures I take now.

    I'm at a loss then, for those particular files.  As a test, try opening one of them and using File...Save As and picking the same file, answering "Yes" to replace the existing file.

    Hi Ken,

    I tried the save as and answered Yes with no luck.

    Maybe it has something to do with the conversion from slides to jpg files.

     

    What if I attach one picture and see if you can do it on your computer with

    Elements 10?

    I really would like to solve this problem if it's humanly possible.

    I've got about 300 of these old pictures I'd like to put text on to help

    identify them.

    I know I"m asking a lot.

    Back to my earlier question:  what is the pixels per inch (PPI) of one of the failing files?

    Hi Ken,

     

    Pixel Dimensions: 2.78 M

    Width: 1200

    Height: 811

    Document Size:

    Width: 0.3 inches

    Height: 0.203 inches

    Resolution: 4000 pixels/inch

     

    I copied that right from Elements 10 with the picture open.

    All three boxes below are checked off.

    Yep, it's the resolution that's causing the problem.

     

    Open the image, and use Image...Resize.  With all the boxes at the bottom checked, first change the "Resolution" to "72", then change the top units to "percent" and change the value to "100":

    Hi Ken,

    When you say the top units you mean the Pixel Dimensions up top or the lower

    section called Document Size?

    Width and Height?

    Yep,  you can do a test on a directory with a few of those photos, using the Editor's File...Process Multiple Files and selecting the "Resize" option's "Resolution" setting.
