How do I get rid of this?

May 12, 2012 4:30 PM

I have no idea what the official euphemism would be for this thing, but how do I, once and for all and forever and ever, get rid of this most irritating P. O. C. ...

... so I can go back to concentrating on my work without the persistent distraction?

(Apparently you have to click on the link to see what I'm talking about. Sorry, but it's not my forum!)

Please post images directly here in the forum using the camera icon in the forum editor.

(I am not going to click on a link to a dubious 3rd-party website.)

This appears to be the Adobe Reader toolbar, or part of it.

Do you see this when viewing a local PDF file, or an online PDF file (in your browser)?

What is your operating system?  If Windows, can you toggle that toolbar using F8?

What is your Adobe Reader version?

You can turn off the floating toolbar in the Acrobat/ Reader prefs.

I have actually never seen that floating toolbar, so I cannot test it.

This topic suggests a solution in the first post http://forums.adobe.com/thread/836792

Mylenium: zero information in your reply.

Stan: go to Edit-Preferences-Internet and deselect "Display in Read Mode by default". See if it helps.

If I only new how to turn off the similarly stupid black Tool tip box with the yellow light bulb. If someone know pls post. I have no idea what Adobe is thinking about when they add this kind of junk to UI.

Found information how to get rid of the Tool Tip bubble by creating an entry in the Registry:

    http://forums.adobe.com/message/3992945

*Now* after disabling the floating toolbar and the bubble the Reader is usable.
