I am doing a small advert and would like to put a border around it so that it stands out better on the page - how do I do this - think its maybe something to do with the fill tool??

    Access the rectangular marquee tool

    Make a rectangular selection surrounding the area containing the text

    Go to Edit>Stroke (Outline) selection. In the dialog, position the stroke inside, select the color, and select the width.

    I tried to figure out but only options I could find - Styles on top. There is something called 'Drop Shadows' which adds shodow to two parts of each font. For more effects, you may also want to try Text Content in Editor.

    ok. Try this;

    1. Open your picture file
    2. Duplicate the background layer
    3. Access the type tool and enter your text. The text will be on its own layer. Right click the text layer in the layers palette, and simplify the layer
    4. Drag out the rectangle with the marquee tool. You should see "marching ants"
    5. Apply the stroke
