Hey, I've got recently the trial of Adobe After Effects Cs6 and i wanted to know if there's anyway i could copy the same shortcuts i was using in cs5 to place them in cs6 cause there's some minor troubles while i'm working with it.
I've tryed the Shortcut Script Editor found in Adobe but coulnd't get it to work since i din't understand a think.
The biggest problem i have is in here.
Pen Tool (CS6)

Pen Tool (Cs5)

As u can see i cannot cycle anymore through the options to get to the add vertex. i've changed already some shortcuts modifyin the "Adobe After Effects 11.0 Shortcuts" file inside of roaming and it worked fine but i can't find the actual "way" or names.. to make it cycle like in Cs5
IS there any way of doing it, Can i import my old shortcuts? or how do i modify thoese.. And how to make it so when i press "Ctrl" i can move the points like in Cs5..
I find this change in the shortcut the major disavantage in the new AE for me at least..
Thank you,
really? Pff... sometimes i wonder why they din't just make it as easy as in Photoshop to change the shortcuts.. i mean why all the headache to just change them...
Should i just forget about it? I mean is there REALLY no way to change them? cause i've been able to change some if i just knew the name of the actual tool i could try to find it inside the shortcuts .txt file in roaming..
Ofc the name of it inside the .txt file is different from the one it actually has in the program..
There was much discussion over how the shortcut for the Pen tool - the G key - should work in CS6. Adobe wanted it to work for switching between the Pen tool and the variable mask feather tool. Knowing that some users might prefer the G key to toggle thru all the Pen tools, they made this a Preference.
Open Preferences > General Preference and toggle OFF the option for "Pen tool shortcut toggles between Pen and Mask Feather tools"
Adobe also fixed a big problem with mask editing. Previously, after you drew a mask with the Pen tool, if you selected a point it deleted it! In CS6, going back to an existing point gives you the Selection tool, so you can move a point easily. So now, you may not need to switch between the other tools just to avoid this problm - you should be able to do everything using just the Pen tool, and use simple shortcuts to switch to other tools. On Mac, when editing a Mask with the Pen tool:
press Command when over a point to get the Delete Vertex tool
press Option when over a point to get the Convert Vertex tool
and just click anywhere along a mask outline to get the Add Vertex tool
By using these shortcuts and using the default Preference (toggle is ON), you can then use G exclusively for switching quickly between the vertex editing and Mask Feather editing.
cheers, Trish
Why would it be smarter? They've added a new Mask Feather tool which is impossible to get to except by using the G key. When you are using this tool you need to constantly switch between the Pen tool and the Mask Feather tool as you are editing. If you had to cycle thru all the tools to switch, people would complain!
So I prefer the new default. Just takes a little getting used to.
Note that the Command key will toggle to the Selection tool when any Pen tool is selected, another small but nice improvement.
Yeah, I'm sure you have discussed this on the Beta until the paint peeled off the walls. Still, I humbly disagree. Just forcing it to this default toggle behavior is just a bad compromise. You know, there are people who actually use masks for lots of other things than roto and that never having been AE's strong suit, there may in fact be more people expecting the "old" behavior for their more graphical work. Ah, now wouldn't it be nice we had a proper keyboard shortcut editor instead of Adobe wasting all their resources elsewhere... It's the simple things in life that make you happy...
