Adobe Community: Cannot Load CS5.5 Projects Into Premier PRo Cs6 when they contain MTS files

incase any one finds this, Cs 5.5 With MTS files in the project did not initially Load IN CS6. i had to add another Sequence Set to AVCHD in the Sequence presets, then Re-link the MTS files per folder and all files showed up, i hope that helps any one looking for this answer

i have a TON of CS5.5 Projects

General wisdom is to finish those in 5.5, and only start new projects in CS6.

Not A Viable Option since this is a BUG not a feature ion CS6 Premier Pro

Please make sure that CS6 is properly activated (requires online activation) so that the protected content will allow these codecs to import.

That is the only reason I can think of right now why you aren't able to relink these files.

I have everything Activated properly, i can see the MTS files only if i Open a NEW Sequence. All the unlocked Presets are there, It just WONT open a CS5.5 project with Canon MTS files in it, i dont have this problem in After Effects CS6, MTS works fine in there. As far as i am concerned, i can use this work around just fine until Adobe Addresses the problem with CS5.5 Opening in CS6 Premier Pro

Just for clarification, are you unable to open the project at all or is it opening but not allowing you to import/relink the mts files?

O-kaaay...then why is it not an option to finish current projects in the current version and only start new projects in the new version?

For my clarification of the issue.

One has never been able to open a previous version project in a later version ...directly.

It usually / always asks if you want to save as a "NEW VERSION PROJECT" first.... and give one a save as option.

What was your workflow as regards opening a CS5.5 project in CS6?

Something I have never done cross versions is Import a previous version into a later version...so I have no idea if that ever worked or otherwise.

Importing and Opening are two very different things and would be handled differently by Premiere - I expect..

I'm thinking this isn't a project compatibility issue. This is the 2nd instance I've heard from users that Canon MTS files aren't working correctly in CS6. I believe QE's looking into the issue to see if they can repro.

The CS5.5 Project Opens, but MTS Files are Shown as Off Line. Also For Clarification, I have ALWAYS been able to open a project containing MTS files from a previous version of Premiere to the New Version, there is a warning that says it will be saved in the New version format. thats Fine. here are my steps because apparently i am not being as clear as i think i am:

System Windows 7 x64

1.) installed CS6 from Disks provided from Adobe

2.) reboot

3.) Open a CS5.5 Premier Project, the systm asks to Convert it to CS6, i say YEs

4.) Unlike PREVIOUS versions, the MTS files in this former CS5.5 Now Saved as CS6 are shown as offline

5.) If i Add a NEW Sequence to the Former CS6 Project that uses the AVCHD Preset, i can then Relink MTS files

Without the New Sequence, the MTS files canot be imported nor can they be relinked, premiere pro CS6 complains that the file format is Unsupported

i hope that explanatino is clearer

CS6 has a comparable issue with mxf files, which adobe is aware of, and is working on.

If i Start a New project in CS6 premiere pro, i can also import MTS files normally, if i didnt already make that Abundantly clear

I'm in a similar jam.

So does the solution go as follows? : Open the Premiere Pro CS5.5 project in CS5.5 > save as > new version project > close Pp CS5.5 > then open the saved project in Pp CS6.

Is there a similar process for opening an After effects CS5.5 project in Ae CS6 ?
