Upgrade process to cs6 on windows 7

Currently own cs5.5 web premium and interested in knowing the exact process of upgrading to cs6.. Assuming the upgrade is to the design and web premium which seems to include inDesign but exclude several applications from the my current suite. Does the upgrade installation overwrite only the newer versions and add inDesign to my existing? I can't imagine an uninstall would be required in order to install the newer version but interested in knowing how it works. Thanks!

    Versions exist independently. CS6 will install thew full suite and not touch your CS5.5 Web Premium in any way, menaing you will have 2 versions of most programs at hand...
