CF 8 reverts to developer when license applied

Dec 22, 2008 1:06 PM

the title pretty much sums it up.

everything works ok, except once the 30 days had passed, even though a license was applied, it reverted to developer edition.

has anyone had this happen or know how to fix this?

ANY help or advice would be great, thanks.

Several known issues for this are:
    - You have a multi-server version and you applied the license after it expired. The issue is the underlying JRun expired and is not updatable by applying the CF license now.

Re-install is only fix. However, you can save your jrun4/servers/serverName directories. Re-install new ColdFusion and create server instances that match your original names if needed. Start the server and check all is good. Stop server and delete serverName folders (or rename outside CF). Replace with your original server folders and restart.

    - You have installed a license that is invalid for your platform. You cannot use a standard license for a J2EE install of CF or a 64 bit install of CF8 since that is not a valid configuration. J2EE and 64 bit require enterprise licenses.

We have the Standard edition of ColdFusion 8 installed for over 2 years.  After restarting the server today, it reverted to the Developer edition.  I reinstalled the license and it seems okay.  Has anyone else seen this and is there a fix if it happens again?
