"For information on a specific preference option, see the index."

No link to the index. How do you get to it?

There does not seem to be an index in the new help files.

But they are not yet complete, the PDF will be available in June, as per: http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/community-help.html

Thanks for catching that; we've now revised that text. Adobe Help has moved away from indexes for the past few versions, but a search on a specific option name should turn up the the relevant topic.

That is deplorable.  A software manual or user guide is only as good as its index.

But there are more dollars to be made from Adobe's Classroom in a Book series.

BTW, there's nothing in that link for CS6 yet.

With what we have paid for the program, something like this book from O'Reilly is not bad value at $40 for the eBook

    http://shop.oreilly.com/product/0636920022718.do

But most people would argue that they should not need to pay extra for a user guide.  The sampler does not have clickable links either, so would be slow to find you way around it.

I really don't like the idea of no help files being included in a 2 gb download of photoshop cs6.

I hope this is the right place. I know not where else to go.

My elliptical marquee tool no longer works in cs5. i have to go back to cs 4 in order to use it, and it is a pain working back and forth. I was told trashing my preferences might do the trick. I do not know which preference to trash.

    thanks
