Run into a licensing issue with CS6
(My provider and I are both trying to work through it but asking if anyone else has had any similar issue.)
Downloaded and installed the Trial Version as soon as it was released.
Ordered and paid for Full version thru my Adobe Provider ( as per previous versions)
Received a Software License Certificate with Win Serial and Mac Serial.
From the Trial splash screen I worked throught the process and entered the Win serial.
Error : Not a Valid Serial. Tried many times same result.
Went to the Menu item 'Complete Profile ID'.
This also failed to register the software to me. Error : Not a Valid Serial.
Went to MY ADOBE and tried to Register a new product with the serial.
Error: This is a volume license and it would not register CS6 to me!
At this point in time...I do not get the TRIAL VERSION splash screen so assume I am not in trial mode. Should the opening usual Splash or Help screen indicate I am registered inside the application and not in Trial Mode?
Issue maybe is: the software is not registered to me and that will have ramifications later ...I am sure.
If I deactivate and reinstall..I am sure that will have ramifications because I am not officially registered to the software at Adobe!
I have been unable to find an understandeable solution via the Adobe Support Files.
Kind of limbo land here!
I am guessing the Adobe Installer Manager is messing with me.
No.They are a a major software/ hardware authorised dealer of repute and have supplied me Adobe products for previous occassions. (Its not a shop front but a specialist film and video industry supplier.
They cant fathom why the problem has occured this time and its a nightmare dealing with an issue like this from so far away and through the less than intuitive website. eg MY ADOBE !!!
BTW
The Licensing Certificate I have in my hand comes from ADOBE and has all the relevant tracking info plus serials.
The Volume Licensing path led me to Adobes LWS (Worldwide Licensing Site) using my ID and Deploy to ID
Another Fail.
Not exactly sure why Adobe has provided me with a Software License Certificate that wont work anywhere, anyway.
Given up for now in sheer bl**dy frustration.
Maybe time to learn Hindi I guess ...and phone CS. ..
but 2 other options are :
Forget about it and face the consequences down the track.
Try to decativate , uninstall, reinstall, reactivate ( bet this will go to hell in a handbasket!)
I recall those issues Jim and unfortunately I am now in the middle of this hell they went through!
I have now deactivated, and uninstalled CS6.
Will re download the Trial and do as you said - Reinstall and try my serial as supplied by Adobe ...skipping the Trial Mode option.
Not super optimistic I might add.
Guess I will be cutting our 48 hour film competiton this weekend on CS5.5.
Jim ...what were the issue you have/had with the Download Manager?
Im sure you wont forget but make sure to run the Clean Script before re-installing.
Sucks it not going smooth for you.
I cant wait to get CS6 myself but have to wait a little longer.

I hope you have much better luck than I did with my Premiere Pro and Photoshop CS6 installs. The issues you're reporting sound somewhat familiar, but not exactly; and for what it's worth: I'm on a Mac. I spent a number of days trying to work through the installation and ultimately fixed it all with a complete reinstall. Of the OS. ![]()
Adobe provides a cleaner tool for the Mac that I assume is similar to what's available for Windows. The problem is: it only cleans up the previous version of Premiere (and Photoshop, if need be). What it doesn't do is clean up all the other crud that Adobe's software spreads throughout the OS. And I'm not just refering to Premiere; one of the real troublemakers in the entire installation process was the Adobe Application Manager. No matter how many times I tried cleaning that up and re-installing it, it just wouldn't work right. Which meant that Premiere and PShop had trouble with their licensing (sound familiar?)
For what it's worth, Adobe's tech support folks are, in fact, Indian. But their English is superb and they have very little in the way of an accent. Don't be too worried about understanding them if you do call; they may not be able to help you figure out what's going on (they couldn't, for me), but you won't have a communcation issue.
I'm up and running. The OS re-install did it because I formatted the drive beforehand, removing all of the digital flotsam that Adobe's previous versions of software spewed throughout the filesystem. It was a sucky solution, but it worked.

@jim: I believe you mentioned a distaste for Arumai (spelling?). That is the Download manager is it not?
No disks available yet so one must install from the Trial Download. Not interested in the cloud and cant imagine what would happen if that goes tits up!
No way am I going to reinstall the operating system just to get registered!
The Adobe Licencing Certificate came from Adobe via my software provider.
Note: In New Zealand ...we can not BUY directly online from Adobe. It has to go through the authorised dealers.
I downloaded Trial again over night and will install once I try Clean Script. Will enter serial immediately and forgo Trial Mode.

Akamai. Many years ago, Akamai servers were one of the largest hosts of viruses, spyware, advertising and other malware. It was so bad that at one point Microsoft started hosting their update service on Akamai servers, but sooooo many people had them blocked and were unable to receive Windows updates that Microsoft changed servers after only a couple months.
For this past behavior, Akamai needs to be punished. They need to go out of business. I will not let them into my system (if I can help it).
Fortunately, I ended up getting the Adobe Download Manager. I saw no attempt to connect to Akamai servers during the process.
No disks available yet
How come? (You may want to wait until they are.)
Disks always become available later in the piece . Especially to New Zealand
I always buy them , but I always have installed from the Download in the past.
Never had an issue before.
I am too impetuous to wait for anything.but this should have worked fine based on previous experiences.
My provider is contacting Adobe to see what has happened this time
Does not seem that any others are experiencing the same issue.
We can pretty much close this thread off now (over it) but for the curious and the record:
I Uninstalled CS6 Windows Trial version and then re installed from a fresh Trial download.
I entered my serial number during the install and that was accepted. Install proceeded successfully.
At end of the install it asks to Update ID and Profile and register the product online.
Error again: The Serial is invalid ....so I just closed out of that.
Who cares...the application is not in Trial Mode and works ....but no serial number shows in the ABOUT screen !
Not going to worry about it anymore and I will leave the product registration to my provider and Adobe to sort.
