Why is the "Import your current website in minutes and build it yourself from there" radio button disabled on the Online Business Builder?
This is known and we've disabled for now.
"Due to performance issues that are threatening the datacenter performance and uptime, we are going to temporarly disable the "Import your current site" option from the Create site wizard in partner portal. We will be working on providing a fix for this problem as soon as possible. We'll keep you updated on the status.
As an alternate workflow, you could use a third party site download tool like httrack (http://www.httrack.com/) to save the site on your disk and then use an FTP client to upload the content on a Business Catalyst website."
Liam, If you don't like it don't use it.
I'm able to convert Clients site much faster when that feature is available. Until then forget about it.
"Import your current site" == More $$$ for Adobe
Like the feature for so many reasons!
I agree, it is one more way to get a site up and running quickly. For a one-man show it is a very valuable tool. I personally use replicate site - but I can see uses for import site as well. Hey, the more tools we can get that help us work quicker and more efficient is a welcome tool.
Has nothing over using it.
A partner introduces BC as a concept, their build what they will do for them and the cost.
The client goes looks into BC, does not know the web, presses a couple of buttons and enters their site and their site is in BC.
In a very terrible and not correct way but to them, its there. They go pages, make some changes and you loose a sale.
It Imports in a very basic - fetch the rendered html way into pages, nothing else and that really is a very BAD place or someone to work from developing what is likely supposed to be a new site/ new version of the site using BC and if your doing that your looking to utilise the features and do the site better.
So from a business standpoint it makes a sale if they find this that much harder.
Brad I do have to disagree with you in terms of the quicker and more efficient element, this tool certanly does not do that.
It currently doesn't do anything at all. That is the issue. We are not debating wether or not you know how to use it effectively.
We want it back because we used it successfully in the past. Again, allow me to reiterate: If you don't like it... don't use it.
Please take a look at our blog post about it - http://www.businesscatalyst.com/_blog/BC_Blog/post/Introducing_our_fea ture-packed_September_release!/
