SSD recommendations

I've been considering an SSD and now have been asked by a family member to build a gaming system for him.  He insists on an SSD to have the OS and primary programs and a single HD for other programs.  He has very little data to deal with.  This might be off topic but whatever I pick for his system should work just as well with mine; the only difference I could see is size of the SSD.

Since this is a newer technology, I thought I would ask here for your experience with specific brands, types and models of SSD's.  I know I have some research to do but any pointers you can provide would also be appreciated.

May I suggest the OCZ Vertex 3?

It's a very fast and reliable SSD drive. Blackmagic Design recommends it for use with their disk recorders.

I have 6 of them and they perform flawlessly.

I will have to get some more feedback from users, because from what I have read, OCZ Vertex is one of the most troublesome SSD's around and Corsair Performance Pro, Samsung 830, Intel 520 and Crucial M4 generally get the better press. OCZ is one of the fastest SSD's, but reliability IMO is much more important than pure speed, especially since it is only used as a boot disk.

I have 2 Crucial M4s and they're quite nice.  They get very high user reviews at Newegg as well.

The Intel 520 series drives have  been bullet proof so far. Intel has really made their pricing competitive for such a new series and performance is outstanding. I would look at the 520 series drives. Crucial would definitely be the next choice

Every where I go, I find out stores have a high return rate on OCZ drives; everything I read about OCZ drives mentions high speeds but also poor reliability. Meanwhile, I have tried a Corsair GT series and it was excellent. Then I switched to Intel 520 series and I couldn't be happier. I recommend them to anybody.
