Private/Login DPS app?

Mar 5, 2012 8:20 AM

Hello Guys,

Not sure if there's a way to do this using DPS: We want to create an app with some kind of login/password system, so only certain users can downoad/login the app. More less what banking and social network apps have in their welcome page. Is there also a way to load any user profile data and load that into the app? Something like someone enter his login info and the App greets the user displaying his/her name, profile data, etc... Anyway to achieve this with DPS?

As always, thank you in advance!

I've been told that to have a Sign In button in your own app that functions the way it does in the Adobe Content Viewer you would need to be an Enterprise level subscriber.  Those banking and social networking apps are not created by designers hoping to avoid coding, my guess is you are going to have to seek another solution to get that functionality.  You could embed a website with that functionality by using a Web Content overlay in a DPS article, but that's probably not going to be a great user experience.

    Hi Andrew and Al3nai,

This solution to embed a login form by using a web content overlay is a good idea, but how could we lock this page until the user succeed the login,

so he can navigate to the next page? any idea? i plan to use wordpress framework to build the login e register the users. Is there any other solution for that?

    Thx

    George

Adobe is offering this solution as part of DPS enterprise edition, called

"direct entitlement" and "private distribution", where you can make folios

    appear for certain accounts.

    Hi,

MEI's recently announced MEI Portico which is built to work with DPS Enterprise can help provide a secure process for achieving your desired solution in addition to a number of other features. It allows you to extend your branding and create a unified entryway into your customer's DPS experience.

I'd be happy to discuss your options. Please feel free to email me at the address below.

    Best,

    Brett

    Hi,

we have provided a solution for customers with an identical situation. We have implemented an entitlement server which communicates with the App and the user database. Have you decided on how you want to distribute the Apps? Via the App store or via Testflight for example? This is important because of Apples strict privacy policy. For your convenience I have included the product sheet.

    Cheers,
