Reduce movie size after export

May 17, 2012 12:14 AM

Hi,

I have one problem during export movie from Premiere Pro CS4 would like every body help.

I create one project from Premiere with the setting as Picture 1, 2 as below. After that, I import files to project (file format: .mov or AE file or avi) to edit. All files is NTSC DV Widescreen setting.

When I export to "Test.avi" format from Premiere, I also choose NTSC DV Widescreen with DV NTSC video code. This file can see full resolution on computer, it's no problem. But if I burn this file to DVD order to play on DVD Player, It can't see full resolution as original (for example as below picture, out side the red border can't see on the TV).

I don't know what problem because the file is exported from After Effects, I burn to play on DVD Player, it's no problem. But import to Premiere and burn to DVD, it have problem.

I think the computer is problem so I format and reinstall windows but it's same.

So please help me to solution this problem.

Thank you.

All tv's have what is called overscan. The outer limits get cut off.

The amount off overscan can vary per TV set.

A computer monitor does not have this 'issue' it plays full screen.

That is why Premiere and AE have Save Margins for Action (being the outer limits) and Titles.

What are your export settings from AE and Premiere.

The Action Safe, and Title Safe Areas, as depeicted on the Program Monitor (with the Safe Areas turned ON), are but guides, to help the user place material within those Areas. As Ann mentions, they are approximations of overscan, as that will differ TV to TV.

In your case, to have everything appear within the the Action Safe Area, you could adjust the Fixed Effect>Motion>Scale, to reduce the Clip slightly, so that everything IS within that Action Safe Area.

Or, you could create the Clip with a bit more black around it.

    Good luck,

what is the best solution in this case.

Live with it.  Overscan is just a part of the video production life.  Normally, you don't do anything about it, as all TVs are different and there's no way to make it look right on all of them.

Somewere along the line your AE file goes wrong. Export as dv-avi as well.

If your file shows lose of sides on the tv that is the correct file.
