Default increment for X and Y values in Control panel?

Is there a way to change the default increment for the X and Y value boxes in the Transform area of the Control panel? When I have an object selected and want to move the object by clicking the arrows beside the X and Y boxes the object moves 1/8 inch for each click. Is there a way to set that to 1/16 inch for example?

A screen grab is attached showing the area on the Control panel in question. I've checked all the Preferences settings I can find but haven't found this one yet.

The Keyboard Increment setting in the preferences controls the amount the arrow keys will nudge items. Simply set it to .0625" for 1/16 inch.

Strangely mine moves to the nearest 1/4 inch. It appears to be 2X the number in the grid divisions box in the Guides and Grids tab of the preferences. When using 8 in this box, I get the 1/4 in.; when setting it to 16, it uses 1/8 in. But setting it to 32 doesn't yield 1/16 in so there must be a lower limit.

Sorry. I misunderstood... and your'e right. I can't find any way to make that increment smaller than .125" (if you are using inches). You can, of course, switch the document rulers to picas or points and the increments change to 1 pt.

    Hi

In Illustrator CS6 the increments in fields was adjusted to a more logical way..and based on the units it´s used in the document. Also Illustrator added the ability of partial increments.

    So these are some rulers:

If you insert your pointer to a field and use up or down key...you will have normal increments. If you use Shift + up or down you have multiple increment. And if you use Ctrl (Cmd) + up or down you get partial increments.

But as I told...the value of normal, multiple and partial increments depends on the unit of measurement the project is currently using.

For example...in the image of Dlux the document is using inches. So these are the concepts:

    ---

In fields that works with inches with 4 decimal places:

    Normal: increments 0.125

    Multiple: increments 1

    Partial: 0.0625

    ----

In fields that works with inches with 3 decimal places (the case of the fields highlighted in the image):

    Normal: increments 0.125

    Multiple: increments 1

    Partial: 0.06

    ----

In fields that works with inches with 2 decimal places:

    Normal: increments 0.1

    Multiple: increments 1

    Partial: 0.06

    ----

In fields that works with inches with 1 decimal places:

    Normal: increments 0.1

    Multiple: increments 1

    Partial: 0.1

    ----

    Hope to be helped

    Gustavo.

As Gustavo states there are ways to obtain a smaller or larger increment based on the preset.

But there is actually no way to change the actual increment unless it is accessible via the preferences which you probably do not want to mess with though some of the users here sometimes do it.

Perhaps a script might maske it workable.

the increment amounts can be changed as needed in the prefs dialog (then using the up/down keyboard arrow keys)...but the OP wants the same behavior when clicking on the up/down arrows next to the edit boxes in the control panel.
