Bridge CS6 Displays JPG and TIF images overexposed

Some JPG images and some TIF images display overexposed by about 2 stops in Bridge CS6. They display properly in Photoshop CS6 and also display properly in Windows Picture viewer.  It's odd that this doesn't affect all images.  Bridge CS5 did not do this.  The images I speak of have not been altered in any way since I recently installed CS6.  I don't see any setting in Bridge preferences that alter color.  Any ideas??

 

I would add this: Purging / rebuilding cache and exporting to folders had no effect on this problem. I always show high quality thumbnails and export to folders.

    Hello, is Camera Raw (ACR) set to be used to create the jpeg and tiff thumbnails in Bridge preferences?

    Uncheck it, or see what is the default preset in ACR, then re-build the cache.

    Check also your Camera Raw preferences (see if there is a check mark in front of 'apply auto tone adjustments', if so uncheck it).

     

    Also try selecting an overexposed file and with right mouse click choose purge cache for selection.

     

    ACR in CS6 uses a different process version (I have 3 version available: 2003, 2010 and the latest new one called 2012)

     

    By default it respects the older process versions for files that have changed ACR settings (they have the small icon with sliders top right of the thumbnail) but for files without settings it automatically chooses the new 2012 process version.

     

    You can check the process under the ACR tab wit camera icon or when in basic check if you see the sliders for Exposure, Recovery and Fill Light etc (2010 process version) or Exposure, Contrast, Highlights etc. (2012 version)

    I've seen this happen before in some subversions of ACR6. The workaround was to disable JPEG & TIFF support in Camera Raw Preferences. I believe the bug was fixed, so I'm not sure why you're seeing it in ACR7. You might try searching the Camera Raw forum.

     

    If you don't use Camera Raw to process JPEG and TIFF images then disabling JPEG/TIFF support is not a problem, and clearing individual image develop settings (as Omke describes) has the same effect.
