Mixing in multitrack: volume

Hi. I want to mix 2 tracks in multitrack: 1 with only a voice over and 1 music track. I want to mix the voice over in the intro of the music track. The volumelevel of the music track should go down somewhat depending on the voice-over. Purpose is to have a tight mix in which the voice-over and music track combine together smootly. Can this be done? Adjust the volume of 1 track depending on another track? Or, is there a workarround?

    It's called 'ducking' and is easy to accomplish in Multitrack view using the volume envelope of the music track. In theory in the new Audition CS6 version it should be possible to automate this as well, because it's now possible to use sidechain access in plugins. Personally though, for a voiceover where it's whole chunks you want to duck the music under, I'd do it manually by drawing the envelopes. You can have the transitions as smooth or abrupt as you want, then. If you want to do a lot of this, especially with older versions of Audition, there's an VST called 'sidekick' that will do a moderately good job of it, within Audition itself - you just run two instances of it, one on each track and they are linked.
