Why is the pricing for Adobe Creative Cloud different depending where you live?

Apr 23, 2012 1:50 AM

I love the idea of Creative Cloud. However, why is it more expensive if I live in Australia than in the US? Isn't the point of this new service to have everythig you use wherever you are in the world? Therefore shouldn't there be one global price.

I realise currency rates and taxes might be different but that does not explain the large price difference we are seeing.

$49.99 US is only $48.50 AUD yet Australians are being charged $62.99 for the EXACT same service? Why rip us off?

I also realise the current / old product pricing has been ripping Australian's off for years... I thought this new pricing model might just solve that, but alas we are STILL GOING TO BE CHARGED MORE just because of where we live... WHY?

Can we just buy a US membership since all the products will work anywhere anyway as it's a cloud based service?

Cheers,

Nicole

    +1

Let's call it for what it is "Customer Discrimination". Adobe have made it practically impossible for customers to contact their management and their support people refuse to engage in any dialogue when questioned on the subject.  Sadly, all the time our Governments allow the likes of Adobe to get away with it they will continue to do so.

In the age of download products, there is no reasoning any longer to justify such DISCRIMINATION.  Clearly Adobe see customers outside of the USA as less important than USA customers.  The more people that post about this issue the better chance of Adobe growing some values and "doing the just and fair thing" by treating all its customers equally.  Imagine the uproar if USA customers were charged a premium on software compared to other countries.

This is just rediculous and ludicrous!  Apple do the same thing.  They must be making a motza out of us. we bought an iPad in the US while there and saved about $150.00.

While I have just pre-ordered a subscription for Creative Cloud when I got to the Australian store I was shocked when seeing the price difference. Adobe needs to explain and justify why this difference exists.

I am considering cancelling my order at the moment. and surficing with lesser products.

Perhaps a call to the ACCC to see what they have to say is in order.

It seems there may be a glimmer of hope yet and like sof Adobe will have to explain/justify to our government why Aussies pay more http://www.smh.com.au/technology/technology-news/parliament-probes-tec hnology-price-gouge-20120428-1xrl2.html

"We're as mad as hell, and we're not going to take it anymore"

I was about to buy Lightroom 4 until I was blocked because I live in Australia. The price for Australian residents is $50-60 more. Why?

Well Adobe, you have lost a sale. I've just bought Corel Aftershot Pro. Parity pricing with US. And it's a great product.

Well, for the sake of completeness, the Australian price you're quoting may be including taxes (10% GST) whereas the U.S. price does not - it's quoted before sales taxes of typically 7-8%...

If you compare apples-to-apples then it's closer - although still not the same, and Adobe has offered an explanation of this in the past.

Thanks for that. I distinctly recall when I purchased my subscription to Creative Cloud It indicated there was no GST. My understanding is it is a legal requirement that any GST amounts are to be clearly identified on the receipt or tax invoice.
