FREE Adobe Story online and iPhone app.

I understand that with the free version of Adobe story we can't collaborate online with colleagues.

 

However, I think we should still be able to sync our Desktop application with our iPhone application.

 

What is the purpose of a free iPhone application if I can't access my Desktop scripts on the road to add notes to them.

 

I would like this feature please, otherwise it makes the iPhone application completely useless.

    The iPhone app syncs to the cloud and not to your desktop. So, Free Adobe Story users can still use Story via the web browser and the iPhone app.

     

    You will have to upgrade if you want to work use the desktop app and want your work to sync between devices and across computers.

    Do you have to subscribe to use the desktop app.  Not nesscisarily to sync, but just to use it?

     

    I'm asking, because ever since I updated to CS6 my desktop app has pretty much been rendered unusable.  Is this supposed to be the case?

    Hi MrHolley,

     

    You don't have to subscribe to use the desktop app. There is a link to download the latest version of the desktop app available here.

     

    https://story.adobe.com/en-us/index.html

     

    The main purpose for the desktop app is to allow you to work offline.

    This is incorrect.

     

    You have to subscribe so that you can work offline and synchronize your offline work online. Only Story Plus (paid) users can sync their work online.

     

    The iPhone app works for both paid and free users.

    My Adobe Story is fully upgraded to the latest version, and I'm still

    having issue. I sent an email to an Adobe employee who said that their have

    been done known issues with Story CS6 and the newest OSX update.

      As of now, my problem hasn't been reconciled.

    Ok.. Can you confirm that you are Story plus customer?

     

    Are you on an annual subscription or a monthly subscription?

    I might but have been clear about what my issue actually is.  Basically when I sign in using my desktop app I'm taken back to the sign in sceen and not able to use the program.  When my computer is NOT connected to the internet and I'm asked to sign in it just stays on the sign in dialog as if I didn't press "enter".

     

    In both situations I'm not able to use the program.

     

    I'd love some help. Thanks

    I'm not a Story subscriber, but to my knowledge I should be able to use the

    desktop app regardless of the fact.

    So you should have two passwords for the Adobe Story app, your Adobe ID and its password and the first time you launch the desktop app it should have prompted you to create an offline password (after signing in with your Adobe ID and password). Did that ever happen?

    No that never happened. I just get taken back to the sign-in page.  The

    only other option that is there is to see what's new, and clicking that

    takes me to a website outside of the Story app.

    Are you able to log into the browser based Story with your Adobe ID?

    Is this a mac machine where you are facing the issue? We are aware of one such problem where user is taken back to sign in screen after successful login and not able to use the AIR app.

    Ok. We'll investigate the issue and get back to you ASAP. In the meantime you can work on browser app.

     

    Just so that you know post CS6 release free user are not entitled to use desktop app of Story but those who were already using the app on a machine should be able to use it in the offline mode, which is your case I believe.

    Hi,

     

    We reproduce and investigated this issue.

    This issue is likely an OSX+AIR issue and we found following workaround which worked well for us.

    Can you please give it a try and let us know how it goes at your end ?

     

    Delete the Adobe AIR keychain using the Keychain Access application on the Mac. It should be in Applications -> Utility folder

    • In the Keychains window you should see a Keychan called PrivateEncryptedDatak - right click on it and select Delete.
    • If the Keychain does not get removed from the list exit and restart Keychain Access.
    • If the PrivateEncryptedDatak keychain is still visible select  the Keychain Access menu and the Keychain First Aid  menu item.  In the  popup enter an administrator username/password, select Repair and hit  start.  The keychain should now be gone.

    I have 9 of the aforementioned "PrivateEncryptedDatak" keychains in my

    Keychain Access dating as far back as 2009, should I delete all of those,

    or is there a specific one?

    Looking further I noticed that only one is associated with AdobeStory

    Yes, Please try deleting the one associated with Story and then try logging in.

    Please note: you might need to reboot the system.

    Please refer http://forums.adobe.com/thread/790858 we offered you the solution based on the discussions of this thread and it worked for us. Go through it, there are several other approaches discussed, you might want to give them a try. Also be careful not to permanently delete your ELS or appdata. Keep a backup copy or just rename them so that you can restore it once things start looking fine.

    Having the same problem with Adobe Story. Getting a warning that says "Failed to get user preferences, lost the internet connection." Any help would be greatly appreciated. Phone support was useless

    Nothing suggested has helped me and I've pretty much given up on the Story

    desktop application all together.  Whatever email help I was getting has

    stopped.

     

    I've never had issues with Adobe products in the past (been with Adobe

    since Premiere 1.5), and i'm kind of disappointed with this and an

    unresolved issue I've had with the Cloud. It is what it is. Hopefully

    things will get better for the rest of you.
