I am taking classes online. Sometimes when I click on a hot link to open a pdf or other file hotlinked in the flash video, I get a hand cursor with an exlamation point on it.
Also in some of these videos there are built-in hot spots where I am prompted to click to continue the video. I left click on them and nothing happens. I can hear the click being registered in my speakers and see the 'play' icon at bottom left of the window flash.
Can't find any info on either of these two problems.
Anyone experience these problems?
Thanks
I tried uninstalling and going back to ver 10.x Flash Player but that didn't help either. So I uninstalled it and went back to the latest & greatest ver of 11.2.202.235. I did notice on the 'get.adobe.com/flashplayer' page that it told me I am running Vista 64 bit and that Flash Player isn't compatible with Vista 64 bit. Is this an issue? I don't know
Regarding your original quesion - hand cursor with an exlamation point: this seems to be the Google Toolbar pop-up blocker. Disable it, and you should no longer see that.
Regarding Vista 64-bit and Flash Player 11.2: officially the 64-bit version of Flash Player is not supported on Vista, but the 32-bit version is. So it will only run on the 32-bit edition of Internet Explorer.
However, I have seen 64-bit Flash Player running successfully on Vista; it is just not officially supported by Adobe.
If Flash Player is running fine on your system, just leave it. On the other hand, if you want to try the 64-bit Flash Player, you can download the installer from http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-pla yer-windows.html#install_in_a_firewall_proxy_server_environment
Whoo. That helped a lot. Got the exlamation point thingie figured out now!
Since my Control Panel doesn't have a 'Flash Player' icon, I went to the Control Panel / Programs & Features to see what is currently installed. It showed:
Adobe Flash Player 11 Active X
Adobe Flash Player 11 Active X 64-bit
After my last uninstall and install via 'get.adobe.com/flashplayer', my current player is ver 11.2.202.235. So I guess that install did the 64-bit stuff. But got the same problem with flash videos that need input by user clicking on a hot spot to let the video continue. I click and click and click. Sometimes more than 30 times before it gets recognized. I know each click is valid because I see the 'Play' button in the lower left corner flicker. I've gone to sites that measure download/upload speeds & I am excellent there, so I know it isn't a streaming speed thing.
I've been in contact with tech support at the hosting site for my educational videos for my course work. They can't figure it out either.
I wish Adobe had a user tech support system. Or maybe they will find this thread and jump in.
Thanks so much Pat.
Good reply Carl. I followed the instructions completely on removal. Checked 'Programs & Features' and all Flash Player stuff was gone. I then went to 'get.adobe.com/flashplayer' and again I got the warning that their newest ver (11.2.202.235) was not compatible with Vista 64-bit. So I did a google search and found that CNET had a 32-bit ver. I downloaded it. Closed browser window and installed it. The resulting 'Programs & Features' list then showed:
Adobe Flash Player 11 Active X
I went to my class site to test. As soon as I got to the coursework, I was prompted:
Windows needs your permission to continue
Internet Explorer Add-on Installer
I first declined this prompt but couldn't continue on the website. So I closed it out and then went back. Again the same prompt. So I agreed and when it was done, 'Programs & Features' now also had the listing of:
Adobe Flash Player 11 Active X 64-bit
Further testing showed the same problem of clicks not doing anything on the hot spots in the videos.

Thanks for the efforts guys
